Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned victories over Old Westbury and Purchase in their home Skyline Conference playdate this afternoon.
In the opening match versus Old Westbury, the Rams (5-5, 3-0) cruised to a straight set victory with 25-7, 25-5 and 25-11 wins.
Senior opposite Amanda Masson (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) recorded game-highs in both kills (9) and service aces (8), while adding five digs and one block. Freshman outside Annie Cosgrave (Bay Shore, N.Y.) tallied seven kills and junior middle blocker Katie DeGraff (Amityville, N.Y.) pitched in with six kills. Setters Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Gina Giacalone (Hauppauge, N.Y.) recorded 15 and eight assists, respectively.
In the second match of the afternoon against Purchase, FSC again won in straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-11.
Senior libero Francesca Calderon (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) finished the game with 10 aces, while Cosgrave recorded a game-high 10 kills. Masson totaled seven kills and five aces and freshman middle blocker Elizabeth Mielko (Dix Hills, N.Y.) had seven kills. Pisciotta tallied a game-high 17 assists in the victory.
Farmingdale State next will host Medgar Evers in a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m.
