#4 Mount Saint Vincent - 3, #5 Farmingdale State - 0 (25-19, 34-32, 25-14)
Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team fell, 3-0, at The College of Mount Saint Vincent in the quarterfinals of the Skyline Conference playoffs this evening.
After dropping the first set 25-19, the Rams (13-22) and Dolphins (14-15) were tied 30-30 in the second set. A Mount Saint Vincent attacking error put Farmingdale State ahead by one, before a kill by junior middle Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) tied the match at 31-31. Senior opposite Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded a kill to put the Rams back ahead by one but the Dolphins again tallied the tying point. After taking a one point lead, 33-32, a Scozzari service ace clinched the second set for Mount Saint Vincent.
The Dolphins captured the third set 25-14 to earn the 3-0 quarterfinal victory.
Palladino led the way for Farmingdale State with nine kills, eight digs and three aces, while sophomore middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) had nine kills. Junior libero Francesca Calderon (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) recorded a game-high 13 digs and sophomore middle Barbara Wright (Farmingdale, N.Y.) added six kills. Junior setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had 22 assists for Farmingdale State.
Scozzari recorded a game-high 18 kills and had six digs for Mount Saint Vincent.
The Dolphins advanced to the semifinals where the will face #1 Sage on Friday, November 7th at the Fall Festival held at Purchase College.
