Rams Sweep Medgar Evers on Dig Pink Night

Farmingdale State - 3, Medgar Evers - 0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-15)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - In their annual Dig Pink night, the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team swept the visiting Medgar Evers Cougars, 3-0, by scores of 25-8, 25-13 and 25-15. The Rams improved to 12-18 with the win, while MEC dropped to 3-22 overall.

Farmingdale State was led by sophomore middle blocker Barbara Wright (Farmingdale, N.Y.) with 10 kills, while freshman setter Gina Giacalone (Hauppauge, N.Y.) finished with 23 assists. Senior outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) totaled six kills, nine service aces and two digs.

For Medgar Evers, senior outside Kiwelewa Mlimwengu (Brooklyn, N.Y.) totaled a team-high six kills and added nine digs. Sophomore outside Kalifa Roberts (San Fernando, Trinidad) finished the night with 10 digs.

The Rams will host Maritime and Sarah Lawrence on Saturday, October 25th as they wrap up Skyline Conference play. Farmingdale State will face Maritime at 10:00 a.m., followed by a match at Noon between Sarah Lawrence and Maritime.

The game on Saturday will also feature Senior Day for Sarah Palladino, who will be playing in her final regular-season home game. Palladino is 33 kills shy of the school record for career kills of 914, held by Cathryn McLean.
