Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #6

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #6 on Monday, October 20, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team is currently playing in the Skyline Championship at Bethpage Red on Sunday, Oct. 19-Monday, Oct. 20th.

After the first round, Farmingdale State was tied with St. Joe's at a team score of 305. The second and final round began at 11:00 a.m. today because of a frost delay this morning.

The winner of the Skyline Championship receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championship at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.

Women's Soccer Update (10-4-3, 5-0-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams went 2-0-1 in three conference games last week and remainined undefeated in Skyline play, posting wins over Purchase and St. Joe's before a double-overtime tie against Mount Saint Mary College.

Junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) netted four goals and added three assists with 17 shots as Farmingdale State posted a 2-0-1 mark for the week. She had a goal and three assists on Oct. 14 in the Rams' 8-0 win over Purchase, then scored a pair of goals on Oct. 16 as FSC notched a 3-1 victory against St. Joseph's-L.I. On Saturday, she registered the game-tying goal with 2:24 remaining in regulation as the Rams earned a 1-1 draw against MSMC. She has been named the Skyline Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after scoring the Rams' two game-winning goals for the week.

Farmingdale State now hosts Old Westbury on Tuesday, Oct. 21st at 3:00 p.m. and Messiah on Saturday, Oct. 25th at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Tennis Update (11-1, 6-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Improving to 11-1, 6-0 in conference play, the women's tennis team earned a pair of Skyline victories over Sage and St. Joe's to claim the top-seed for this week's Skyline Playoffs.

Senior Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season. Sickles dropped just one total game in wins over Sage and St. Joe's. She registered a 6-1, 6-0 decision on Oct. 17 in the Rams' 9-0 victory over St. Joseph's-L.I, before posting a 6-0, 6-0 win as FSC earned a 9-0 win versus Sage on Oct. 14. She also won a pair of matches at No. 1 doubles.

This week, the Rams host Sage in the Semifinals on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The winner of that match will play for the Skyline Title on Saturday, to be played at the highest remaining seed.

Men's Soccer Update (6-9-1, 3-3-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team went 1-1 last week with a 2-1 win over Old Westbury and a 3-1 loss to Sage. The Rams stand in 5th place in the Skyline with two conference games remaining in the regular season.

Freshman forward Samuele Riva (Caddrezate, Italy) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Riva's two goals, including his first game-winning tally of the season, lifted Farmingdale State past Old Westbury on Oct. 14, 2-1. He had a team-high nine shots in the match and has scored a team-leading seven goals on the season.

Farmingdale State hosts St. Joe's on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd at 3:30 p.m. and will host non-conference opponent Stockton on Saturday, Oct. 25th at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball Update (11-18, 4-4 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's volleyball team finished 2-1 in three conference games last week, improving to 4-4 in Skyline play.

Senior opposite Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after averaging 3.00 kills and 2.18 digs over 11 sets for Farmingdale State. She also finished the week with a team-high 16 service aces.

The Rams host Medgar Evers tonight, Oct. 20th at 7:00 p.m. and will wrap up Skyline play on Saturday, Oct. 25th with a match against Maritime at 10:00 a.m.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

At this weekend's St. Joe's Invitational, the women placed 15th and the men finished in 23rd.

The women were led by junior Carina Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), while the men were led by sophomore Jacob Kashani (Roslyn, N.Y.).

The cross country teams next will travel to Milton, N.Y. for the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday, Oct. 26th.
