Rams Defeat Staten Island in Straight Sets

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned a straight set victory over The College of Staten Island in a non-conference match this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y.

After capturing the first set 25-15, the Rams (10-17) earned 25-18 and 25-16 wins to complete the sweep of Staten Island (7-9).

Senior opposite Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the way for Farmingdale State with a game-high 11 kills, 10 digs, four aces and three blocks, while sophomore middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) had 10 kills and four blocks. Junior opposite Amanda Masson (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) pitched in with seven kills and sophomore middle blocker Barbara Wright (Farmingdale, N.Y.) added six kills. Freshman setter Gina Giacalone (Hauppauge, N.Y.) tallied a game-high 34 assists for the Rams.

The Dolphins were led by junior middle Selma Kolenovic (Staten Island, N.Y.) who had a team-high eight kills, while sophomore libero Victoria Wong (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up a game-high 24 digs.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline Playdate on Saturday, October 18th. The Rams are set to face Sarah Lawrence at noon and Mount Saint Mary at 2:00 p.m.
