FSC Sweeps York (NY) in Non-Conference Matchup

Farmingdale State - 3, York (NY) - 0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-15)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned a three set victory over York (NY) in a non-conference match this evening.

Tied 4-4 in the opening set, Farmingdale State (8-15) freshman defensive specialist Gina Giacalone (Hauppauge, N.Y.) served for 14 consecutive points to extend the advantage to 18-4. The Rams cruised to a 25-8 victory in the first set.

Farmingdale State captured the second set 25-20 and closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the third set.

Giacalone recorded a game-high six service aces and added six digs, while junior outside Karen Ulysse (West Hempstead, N.Y.) had eight kills. Senior Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tallied a game-high 23 assists to go along with three aces and two blocks, while junior libero Francesca Calderon (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) had 16 digs.

The Cardinals (4-14) were led by senior middle Stayce Kay Muirhead (St. Catherine, Jamaica) who had eight kills and two blocks.

The Rams next will travel to New Jersey City University for a non-conference matchup on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m.
