Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #2

- Thompson and Sickles named Player of the Week, Howard tabbed Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #2 on Monday, September 22, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Soccer Update (4-2-2, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted wins over Stevens (2-1) and Mount Saint Vincent (3-0) and recorded a 1-1 tie at Scranton last week.

Junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week and freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Thompson scored a goal in all three of Farmingdale State's contests on the week and compiled eight shots overall. She netted the game-winner on Sept. 17 in the Rams' 2-1 victory over Stevens and notched the team's lone goal in a 1-1 draw at Scranton Sept. 20. Thompson added her fourth goal of the season on Sept. 21 as FSC earned a 3-0 conference win versus Mount Saint Vincent.

Howard compiled five points with two goals and an assist on nine shots in a 2-0-1 week for Farmingdale State. She scored the game-winning goal and added an assist at Mount Saint
Vincent and added a goal as FSC edged Stevens, 2-1. Howard had a match-high four shots on goal in the Rams' 1-1 draw at Scranton.

This week the women's soccer team will host Eastern on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and Sage on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Tennis Update (5-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's tennis team posted a 2-1 mark last week with victories over Oneonta (5-4) and Yeshiva (9-0).

Senior Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named Skyline Player of the Week. Sickles enjoyed a 3-0 week at the No. 1 singles flight. She earned a hard-fought 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 decision on Sept. 21 versus Yeshiva and posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Oneonta State. Sickles also recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win on Sept. 17 versus Ramapo and added a pair of victories and the No. 1 doubles position.

This week the Rams will travel to Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and host St. Joe's on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team recorded a second place finish at the 12-team Dowling College September Shootout held at Tallgrass Golf Club in Shoreham, N.Y.

Senior Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) led the way for Farmingdale State with a fourth place finish after posting rounds of 72 and 74.

This week the Rams will host the FSC Skyline Invitational at Bethpage Red on Friday.

Women's Volleyball Update (6-10, 1-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams played three matches this past week and posted a 1-2 record. The Rams opened conference action with a 3-0 sweep of Yeshiva University.

Senior opposite Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. Palladino was the setter for the William Paterson match and posted 31 assists, 10 digs and four aces. She led the team for the week in assists, aces and kills along with a .224 attack percentage.

This week the women's volleyball team will head to York (Pa.) for the Spartan Invitational on Friday, September 26th and Saturday, September 27th.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

Last week the men and women competed at the Bard College Invitational with both teams finishing in 13th place. Freshman Megan Eiseman (Seaford, N.Y.) led with women with a 50th place finish in 21:17, while sophomore Jacob Kashani (Roslyn, N.Y.) finished 54th for the men.

The cross country team has a week off before competing in the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational on October 4th.

Men's Soccer Update (3-6, 0-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team fell in both matches last week - 4-3 vs. Staten Island (2 OT) and 3-2 at Mount Saint Mary (OT).

Junior midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Honor Roll. Famularo recorded a team-leading three goals last week. He scored two versus Staten Island and added one goal in the OT loss at MSMC.

This week the Rams will host Purchase on Saturday at noon.
