Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #5

- Gannon and Morra named Rookie's of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #5 on Monday, September 30, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (5-2, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a 1-1 mark on the week with a 5-4 loss at home to William Paterson before defeating Oneonta 6-3 in a non-conference road match.

Freshman Priscilla Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position versus Oneonta and compiled a 2-0 singles record on the week.

This week the women's tennis team will host NYU-Poly on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and travel to Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (5-16, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State posted a 3-0 mark on the week with shutout wins over Purchase, CCNY and Brooklyn.

Freshman defensive specialist Samantha Morra (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Morra registered 27 digs and 15 service aces over nine sets   including 10 digs and eight aces against CCNY. She notched 11 digs and five aces at Purchase.

Junior outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll. She compiled 26 kills, 25 digs and 12 service aces in a 3-0 week for the Rams

The Rams next will face Old Westbury and Yeshiva at Baruch College for a Skyline Playdate on Sunday, October 6th.

 

Men's Golf Update

The golf team captured the Farmingdale State Skyline Invitational on Friday, September 27th at Bethpage Red. The Rams (295) finished 13 strokes ahead of runner-up St. Joe's. Senior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) won by four strokes after shooting a 2-under par 68.

This week the Rams will play in the Purchase College Invitational on Tuesday at Old Oaks Country Club. On Friday, the team will travel to the Powelton Club for the Mount Saint Mary Invitational and then head up to Utica, N.Y. for the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Men's Soccer Update (4-5, 0-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team was 2-0 on the week with a pair of non-conference victories over York (NY) and NYU.

Freshman Keith Orlando (Medford, N.Y.) and sophomore Alexis Escobar (Hicksville, N.Y.) were named to the Honor Roll. Orlando recorded 11 saves in goal vs. York and Escobar scored the game-winner in double OT against NYU.

The Rams next will travel to Yeshiva on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. and host Old Westbury on Saturday at noon.

 

Women's Soccer Update (5-6, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams defeated Sage 5-0 in their Skyline Conference opener and dropped a pair of non-conference games against Eastern and #8 Ithaca.

Freshman forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Gannon scored a pair of goals and added two assists over three contests on the week. She tallied the Rams' lone goal against Eastern and had a goal and an assist versus Sage. Gannon recorded an assist as FSC was edged by No. 8 Ithaca, 2-1.

The women's soccer team next will host Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. before traveling to Williams on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The teams did not compete this past weekend and next will travel to Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh, N.Y. for the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational on Saturday, October 5th.
