Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #4

- Fredericks named Rookie of the Week, Thompson Co-Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #4 on Monday, September 23, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Men's Golf Update

The golf team placed 3rd of 15 teams at the Dowling College Shootout held at Long Island National Golf Club in Riverhead, N.Y. The field featured one Division I, 12 Division II and two Division III schools.

Senior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) finished tied for 5th place and sophomore Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) placed T10.

This week the Rams will host the Farmingdale State Skyline Invitational at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course on Friday, September 27th.

 

Women's Tennis Update (4-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams defeated non-conference opponent Hunter, 5-4, in their lone match last week.

Freshman Michelle Fredericks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Fredericks earned wins at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. She registered a 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 singles victory and notched a 9-8 (7-5) win in doubles play.

This week Farmingdale State will host William Paterson on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and travel to Oneonta on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's team placed 16th of 22 at the Bard College Invitational this past week. Freshman Jacob Kashani (Roslyn, N.Y.) finished in 49th place in a time of 29:03.

The cross country teams next will travel to Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh, N.Y. for the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational on Saturday, October 5th.

 

Women's Soccer Update (4-4, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a 1-1 mark on the week after earning a 2-1 victory at Stevens and then falling at home to Scranton 3-2 in overtime.

Sophomore midfielder Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was named Co-Skyline Player of the Week. Thompson netted a goal and added an assist versus Stevens and scored the first two goals of the contest against Scranton. Thompson has compiled five goals and one assist on the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Monzillo (Medford, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll. In her first career start, she tallied four saves in the win at Stevens.

This week the women's soccer team will travel to Eastern on Tuesday (3:30pm), Sage on Saturday (2:00 p.m.) and Ithaca on Sunday (1:00 p.m.)

 

Men's Soccer Update (3-5, 0-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win at Brooklyn College, before falling 3-0 at Purchase in their Skyline Conference opener.

Farmingdale State next will host NYU on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (2-16, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's volleyball team won their Skyline Conference opener with a 3-0 home victory over Maritime.

The Rams next will travel to Purchase for a conference match on Thursday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, Farmingdale State will face CCNY (4:00 p.m.) and Stevens (6:00 p.m.) and on Saturday they will square off against Brooklyn (11:00 a.m.). Friday's and Saturday's games will all be played at Stevens.
