Rams Earn First Win at Roadrunner Invitational

Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team finished with a 1-3 record in the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Ramapo College.

In the match against Elmira, the Rams were led by junior outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) who had a game-high 20 assists, while sophomore libero Francesca Calderon (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) tallied 10 digs.

In the second match on Friday, Farmingdale State earned their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Centenary. Palladino again had a game-high is assists with 40 and added three aces and three kills. Freshman middle blocker Maia Calde-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman outside Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) each recorded 10 kills for the Rams.

On Saturday, Farmingdale State opened the day with a 3-1 loss to Mount Aloysius. In the match, Palladino notched 11 kills and 11 digs, while Hinton had 11 kills. Sophomore setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had a game-high 27 assists and Calderon recorded a game-leading 19 digs.

In the match against host school Ramapo, Palladino (8 kills) and Hinton (6 kills) led the way offensively for the Rams.

Farmingdale State now stands at 1-11 overall on the season.

The Rams next will host Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m.
