Rams Drop Season Opener Against CCNY

CCNY - 3, Farmingdale State - 1 (25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24)


Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team fell, 3-1, against CCNY in their season opening match at the Kings Point Invitational held at the Merchant Marine Academy.

Farmingdale State (0-1) dropped the first two sets before answering with a 25-23 victory in the third. Tied 24-24 in the fourth set, a pair of CCNY (1-0) kills by Leticia Marotti and Kathlen Dos Santos sealed the victory and a 3-1 Beavers win.

Junior outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the way for the Rams with 12 kills, 12 digs and two service aces, while sophomore outside Karen Ulysse (West Hempstead, N.Y.) had 10 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tallied a game-high 31 assists and sophomore libero Francesca Calderon (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) had a team-leading 15 digs.

CCNY was led by Marotti who recorded 18 kills and 16 digs in the victory.

Farmingdale State next will face Wentworth at noon and Merchant Marine at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31st for the final day of the Kings Point Invitational.
