Rams Fall in Five at St. Joe's

#3 St. Joseph's - 3, #4 Farmingdale State - 2 (25-18, 25-17, 24-26, 21-25, 15-10)


Patchogue, N.Y. - Third-seed St. Joseph's College (L.I.) defeated Farmingdale State, 3-2, tonight in Skyline First Round Volleyball action in Patchogue, N.Y. The Rams fell to 12-12 with the loss, while the Golden Eagles improved to 19-6 and advance to the Semifinal/Championship round on Sunday, November 4th at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y.

St. Joe's held a 2-0 lead after the first two sets with 25-18 and 25-17 victories, before Farmingdale State rallied to force a fifth set with 26-24 and 25-21 wins. In the fifth and deciding set, the Rams took a quick 5-3 lead, but St. Joe's saw five straight points to make it 8-5 and never looked back as they took the final set 15-10.

Farmingdale was led by senior outside Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) with 18 kills and 11 digs, while sophomore outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) posted 15 kills and eight digs. Freshman setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished with 34 assists and nine digs.

The Golden Eagles saw game-highs of 36 assists and 16 digs from sophomore setter Julianne Tierney (Bethpage, N.Y.). Freshman middle Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y.) had 13 kills.
