Rams Edge St. Joe's in Skyline Match

Farmingdale State - 3, St. Joseph's - 2 (16-25, 25-21, 20-25, 28-26, 15-10)


Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team won the final two sets en route to a 3-2 Skyline Conference victory over St. Joe's last night in Patchogue, N.Y. The Rams improved 11-9, 5-3 in the Skyline, while the Golden Eagles fell to 17-6 overall, 6-3 in conference play.

Trailing 2-1, Farmingdale State captured the fourth set 28-26 and then won the deciding fifth set 15-10.

The Rams were led by sophomore outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) who had a game-high 20 kills to go along with 15 digs and five service aces. Senior outside Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) tallied 19 kills and 15 digs, while freshman setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had a game-leading 43 assists and nine digs.

Sophomore opposite Melissa Garbaldi (Seaford, N.Y.) led St. Joe's with 13 kills, while senior libero Ashley Larrea (Islip, N.Y.) and freshman outside Tiffany Willms (Centereach, N.Y.) had 22 and 12 digs, respectively. Sophomore setter Julianne Tierney (Bethpage, N.Y.) recorded 38 assists for the Golden Eagles.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Vassar College on Saturday, October 27th for a non-conference tri-match where they will face Vassar at 11:00 a.m. and Misericordia at 1:00 p.m.
