Sahner Honored as Rams Defeat Old Westbury on Senior Night

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team defeated Skyline Conference opponent Old Westbury, 3-1, on senior night in Farmingdale, N.Y. Senior outside Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) played in her final regular season home game for the Rams.

The Rams (10-7, 4-1) dropped the first set 25-18 and rebounded by winning the next three sets. Sahner recorded the games final kill for Farmingdale State.

Sahner had 11 kills and a team-leading 15 digs, while freshman outside Morgan Valinoti (St. James, N.Y.) recorded 12 kills. Sophomore outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tallied 13 digs, 10 kills and a game-high four service aces. Freshman setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had 37 assists and 10 digs, while freshman libero Francesca Calderon (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) added 13 digs for Farmingdale State.

Old Westbury (7-20, 2-3) was led by junior setter Kimberly Catania (Islip, N.Y.) who had 24 assists and 19 digs, while freshman libero Allie Giancola (Floral Park, N.Y.) picked up a team-high 25 digs.

Sahner, a three-year starter, is currently the all-time leader in attack percentage, second in kills and aces per set, third in total service aces and fourth in total kills. She has played in 58 matches and compiled 639 kills, 480 digs, 126 service aces and 53 blocks to date.

The Rams next will travel to Old Westbury for a Skyline Playdate on Saturday, October 20th and face Sage at 11:00 a.m. and Mount Saint Mary at 1:00 p.m.
