Rams Win Two at Mount Saint Vincent Tri-Match

Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 3-2 in a conference match, and then Old Westbury 3-0, in Saturday's tri-match hosted by the Dolphins. The Rams are now 8-5 overall, 3-0 in conference play.

Mount Saint Vincent - (24-26, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17, 15-11)

Farmingdale was down 2-0 and fought back to take three straight sets for the 3-2 victory. The Rams rallied in the third set after committing just five miscues. After Mount Saint Vincent took a 15-14 lead, Farmingdale State scored seven of the next eight points to take the lead for good in the set.
 
In the fourth, Farmingdale State built an early 6-2 lead and was never threatened as it knotted the match at two sets apiece. A 6-0 spurt turned a three point lead into a nine point advantage, as the Rams scored 10 of the final 14 points of the frame.
 
Mount Saint Vincent regrouped in the fifth and quickly got in front 6-3. The Dolphins would not fall behind in the set until another 6-0 Ram rally that brought them to a 14-10 lead. Sophomore Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) closed the match with her 22nd kill of the contest to seal the victory for Farmingdale State.
 
Palladino led all players with 22 kills and also chipped in with 16 digs. Senior Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) also had a big match with 21 winners and a team-high 18 digs. Freshman setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) handed out a season-high 54 assists for the Rams to go along with 13 digs.

Old Westbury - (25-19, 25-22, 25-21)

Farmingdale State continued their streak in the second match of the day with a 3-0 shutout over the Panthers. Palladino finished with 21 kills, 10 digs and five service aces in the match, while Sahner posted 10 kills and 11 digs. Pisciotta dished up 32 assists and freshman Angela Kranz (Bohemia, N.Y.) notched 16 digs.

 

The Rams will now travel to NYU-Poly on Wednesday, October 10 for a Skyline match at 7:00 p.m.
