Rams Defeat New Rochelle in Kings Point Invitational

Farmingdale State - 3, New Rochelle - 1 (25-19, 13-25, 25-17, 25-22)


Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team defeated New Rochelle in their first match of the season yesterday at the Kings Point Invitational. The teams were tied 1-1 before the Rams captured the next two sets to earn a 3-1 victory.

Sophomore outside Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had a game-high 19 kills to go along with 13 digs for Farmingdale State. Freshman outside Angela Kranz (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded a team-leading 14 digs and had five kills, while freshman setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had 27 assists for the Rams.

New Rochelle was led by sophomore outside Meghan King (New City, N.Y.) who had 12 kills and nine digs, while senior setter Kristina Nilaj (Yonkers, N.Y.) had 12 assists and eight kills.

Farmingdale State will play Rutgers-Newark at 2:00 p.m. and host school Merchant Marine at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1st in the second day of the Kings Point Invitational.
