2010 Women's Volleyball Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team finished the season with a 12-13 overall record and advanced to the Skyline Conference Semifinals before falling to Mount Saint Mary College. The Rams defeated St. Joseph's College 3-2 in the quarterfinal round of the Skyline playoffs. Farmingdale State earned its first berth into the playoffs since this 2007 season.

The Rams had two players named All-Skyline Conference this year. Sophomore outside hitter Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y.) received First Team honors, while junior outside hitter Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team.

Sahner, who started every match for the Rams, finished the year with 271 kills, 189 digs 21 blocks. Sahner was also named Skyline Conference Player of the Week once this season. Cunningham was second on the team with 177 kills and also added 160 digs and 19 blocks.

Junior Renee Milevoj (Bethpage, N.Y.) had a team-high 192 digs this year with an impressive 2.13 dig per game average. Freshman setter Lindsey Fisher (Seaford, N.Y.) had 544 assists, 147 digs and 32 service aces.

Shannon Scudder (Seaford, N.Y.) and Kathy Daniels (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each played in their final season at Farmingdale State. Scudder had a team-high 47 service aces, was second with 34 blocks and added 71 kills. Daniels had 63 digs, 28 service aces and 15 kills this season.

Farmingdale State will be returning 7-of-9 players for the 2011 season.
