Rams Win Season Opener against Yeshiva

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team soared to a 3-0 victory (25-9, 25-12, 25-9) in tonight's season opener against Skyline opponent Yeshiva University. Junior outside Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) led the Rams with 12 kills and two aces, while freshman setter Lindsey Fisher (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) had 23 assists and four aces in her first collegiate match.

Farmingdale State started off slow in the first game, before using a six-point rally to take a 15-6 lead and go on for the 25-9 victory. In game two, the Rams closed out a 25-12 win with eight consecutive points. In the third game, Farmingdale built up 13-4 lead before holding Yeshiva to just five more points and taking the third and deciding game 25-9.

Sophomore outside Holly Sahner (Dix Hills, N.Y./Hills East) finished the night with seven kills, one ace and four digs. Junior opposite hitter Renee Milevoj (Plainview, N.Y./Bethpage) had five kills and three assists.

The Rams now stand at 1-0 overall, 1-0 in the Skyline, while Yeshiva falls to 0-1, 0-1 in the conference. The team will play next in the Old Westbury Panther Invitational on September 11th with game times at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.
