2009 Women's Volleyball Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team had an 8-16 overall record this season, finishing in a tie for 5th place in the Skyline Conference. The Rams missed the playoffs on tiebreakers with Mount Saint Vincent and Old Westbury.

Sophomore outside hitter Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y.) was named Second Team All-Skyline Conference after leading the team with 218 kills. Cunningham had 219 digs, holding a 2.41 dig per set average and 25 blocks this season.

Sophomore setter Shelby Martin (New Paltz, N.Y.) had 326 assists and 130 digs, while sophomore Alyssa Siegel (Carle Place, N.Y.) recorded 121 assists and 167 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Zimmerman (Seaford, N.Y.) had a team-high 261 digs and a 3.11 dig per set average.

Farmingdale will be returning eight players next season and look for success under Patric Santiago in his second season as head coach.
