Rams Fall at Merchant Marine in Non-Conference Match

Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to non-conference opponent U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday night. The Rams are now 4-11 overall this season.
Merchant Marine took the first set 25-19 and the Rams fought back to take a 25-23 win in the second set. The Mariners won the next two sets 25-16 and 25-22 to take the 3-1 victory.
Sophomore outside Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) led the Rams with seven kills. Sophomore setter Shelby Martin (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) had 20 assists. Senior libero Tiffara Steward (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) finished with a game-high 29 digs.
The Mariners were led by Jesselyn LaValley with 13 kills and 23 digs, while Jenna Palaschak chipped in with 22 assists.
Farmingdale State will host a Skyline Playdate this weekend on Saturday, October 10th. The Rams will face the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 10:00 a.m. and Bard College at 2:00 p.m.
