Rams Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

Farmingdale State vs. Maritime College - Farmingdale wins 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-20)

Farmingdale State vs. Purchase College -  Farmingdale wins 3-1 (25-22, 11-25, 25-21, 25-16)


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team won both Skyline Conference games on Saturday, defeating Maritime College 3-0 and Purchase College 3-1 in Purchase, N.Y. With the two wins, the Rams have now moved into a tie for sixth place in the Skyline Conference. The top six teams advance to the playoffs.

In the game against Maritime College, freshmen Jessica Zimmerman (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y./Copaigue) led the Rams with eight and six kills respectively. Zimmerman also led the team with nine digs. Freshman Shelby Martin (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) had 15 assists for Farmingdale State to go along with her team high seven service aces, helping the Rams to a three set sweep over Maritime.

In the game against Purchase College, freshmen Alyssa Siegel (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) and Cunningham both finished with nine kills apiece for Farmingdale State.  Martin recorded 24 assists and senior captain Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had 12 digs for the Rams. 

Farmingdale State next travels to St. Joseph's College for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, October 28th at 7:00 pm.
