Rams Move into Third Place with Win at Old Westbury

Farmingdale State - 3, Old Westbury - 1  (30-27, 30-22, 20-30, 30-18)

Old Westbury, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team  (17-15, 5-2) moved into a tie for third place in the Skyline with a 3-1 victory at Old Westbury (10-23, 5-4) tonight. The Rams are now tied with Polytechnic for third place with two conference games remaining. Farmingdale and the Panthers wore pink in the match tonight in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Rams rallied from a five-point deficit in game one to take the first game 30-27, before winning game two by eight and then falling in game three by ten points. Farmingdale dominated in the fourth game with a 30-18 victory.

Senior setter Colleen Mackey (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) finished with 38 assists and 10 digs. Both senior Amanda Sperling and junior Cathryn McLean (Northport, N.Y./Northport) had 18 kills and 14 digs apiece. Sophomore outside Amanda Sieber (Commack, N.Y./Commack) a team-high 17 digs and 14 kills.

The Rams will host their final regular season games on Saturday, October 27th, with a game against Purchase at 10:00 a.m. and Maritime at Noon. It is senior day for Mackey and Sperling.
