The 2006 Farmingdale State volleyball team finished the year with a 22-6 overall record, finishing second in the Skyline with a 7-1 record during the regular season. The Rams defeated Old Westbury 3-1 in the conference semifinals and then fell in the finals to Stevens Institute of Technology. It was a record-setting season for Farmingdale, as a team they set season-highs in every category since joining the NCAA and were ranked 16th in the Nation in Aces per game. Three players were named to the All-Conference teams, including sophomore middle blocker Cathryn McLean, senior setter Falon Taddeo and senior outside hitter Gina Moscato.

McLean and Taddeo were named First Team All-Skyline, while Moscato picked up Second Team All-Skyline honors. McLean finished the year with 256 kills, 211 digs, 49 aces and a team-leading 102 blocks, was seen constantly on the Skyline Player of the Week list and was named MVP after the Rams won the Old Westbury Invitational. Taddeo, the team's floor leader all season, had a career-high 638 assists, along with 167 digs and 26 blocks. She was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Old Westbury Invitational and also the New Paltz Hawk Invitational. Taddeo played three years at Farmingdale and tallied 1,106 assists, 445 digs, 187 kills, 66 blocks and 62 aces. Moscato, the only four-year player who will graduate this season, finished with a team-high 258 kills and 273 digs, 37 service aces and 28 blocks. She compiled a total of 894 kills, 199 aces, 937 digs and 80 blocks while at Farmingdale.
Two other players finished their college volleyball careers this season. Outside hitter Melissa Rudy and setter Megan Cranmer both played three years for the Rams. Rudy tallied 491 digs, 424 kills, 124 aces and 47 blocks, while Cranmer had 801 assists, 224 digs and 106 aces.
Farmingdale head coach Tom Gordon, the 2006 Skyline Coach of the Year, has a good core coming back in 2007. McLean will lead the team, along with junior middle blocker Amanda Sperling and junior right side Colleen Mackey, who both made a huge impact in the team's turnaround season. Also returning after great rookie campaigns are freshman outside hitter Amanda Sieber and sophomore libero, Theresa Rokee.
