NEWARK, NJ (September 30, 2006) – Freshman outside hitter Katlyn Lewis (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley HS) led a balanced attack with 23 kills as Rutgers-Newark swept past Albright and Farmingdale State in a tri-match in The Golden Dome.

The Scarlet Raiders (14-4) ended Farmingdale State's eight-match winning streak in the final match of the day, dropping the Rams to 12-2 on the season with a 30-13, 30-16, 30-18 decision. Freshman Rachel Guyt (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) led Rutgers-Newark with six of the team's 10 aces while getting eight kills with attack no errors, hitting .386. Senior middle blocker Jennifer Snyder (Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Regional) had seven kills, solo blocks and an assisted block while Lewis and freshman outside hitter Jesica Cockerham (Keller, TX/Fossil Ridge) knocked down six kills apiece.

In the opener, Lewis pounded down a match-high 15 kills and Pape and Cockerham combined for 15 of the Raiders' 21 aces in a 30-18, 30-25, 30-20 win over Albright. Rutgers-Newark hit .197 behind Lewis's .355 (15 kills, 4 errors, 31 attacks) accuracy. Cockerham roped eight aces and added a team-high 13 digs plus five aces. Junior middle blocker Julie Pape (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin Senior) delivered seven aces with eight digs and four kills.

Albright senior outside hitter Abbey Reames (Greenwood, IN/Center Grove) posted a double-double with a match-high 15 digs and a team-best 10 kills. Senior opposite Nikki Gesiskie (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) served four of the Lions' eight aces and chipped in six kills. Junior outside hitter Keri Wischner (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine Heights) and senior libero Steph Riccardi (Beacon, NY/Beacon) each had 13 digs.

Farmingdale State ran its win streak to eight with a hard-fought 30-26, 16-30, 30-23, 15-30, 15-8 win over Albright in the day's second match. Senior outside hitter Gina Moscato (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) hammered down a match-high 15 kills while sophomore middle blocker Cathryn McLean (Freeport, NY/Northport) had a double-double with a dozen kills and 17 digs. Senior setter Falon Taddeo (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) served five of the Rams' 15 aces while posting 34 assists and 15 digs. Reames once again paced Albright with nine kills and a match-high 21 digs.

Sophomore setter Nazly Hasanizedah (Katy, TX/Alief Hastings) totaled 56 assists in the two matches while Cockerham and Pape each posted nine aces in six games.

The Rams face Mount Saint Vincent on Monday, October 2nd for a 7:00pm Skyline Conference game.
