Farmingdale, NY – The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team improved to 9-1, 2-0 Skyline tonight after defeating visiting conference opponent Merchant Marine (3-8, 1-1) 3-0 in Farmingdale, NY. The three-game victory (30-24, 30-17, 30-13) marks the fifth straight win for the Rams and the first win over USMMA since 2002.

For Farmingdale State, junior middle blocker Amanda Sperling (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) finished with a game-high 11 kills and eight digs. Senior outside hitter Gina Moscato (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) tallied up 10 kills and nine digs. Senior setter Falon Taddeo (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside), this weeks Skyline Player of the Week, notched 28 assists, four service aces and 10 digs.

Merchant Marine's freshman middle blocker Jesselyn LaValley (Havelock, NC/Havelock) had a game-high 11 digs and seven kills, while sophomore outside hitter Clea Vragel (Evenston, IL/Evanston Township) had 10 digs and nine assists.

The Rams will host City Tech (NYCCT) on Saturday, September 23rd for a non-conference game at 12 Noon.
