Old Westbury, NY - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 after defeating Baruch and Lincoln in the first day of the Old Westbury Invitational in Old Westbury, NY.

The Rams opened up the 2006 season against Baruch, winning by scores of 30-27, 30-22, 30-14. Sophomore middle blocker Cathryn McLean (Northport, NY/Northport) led the team with 11 kills, eight digs and five blocks. Senior setter Falon Taddeo (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) finished with 33 assists, four service aces and five digs. Senior outside hitter Gina Moscato (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) tallied 11 kills and 13 digs.

In the second game of the day, the Rams improved to 2-0, defeating Lincoln 30-15, 30-8, 30-14. Moscato tallied 11 kills, eight digs and five service aces, while McLean added 15 kills and 11 digs for Farmingdale State. Taddeo finished with 29 assists and senior setter Megan Cranmer added 10 assists. Senior outside hitter Melissa Rudy (Dix Hills, NY/Hills East) totaled 10 kills and four digs.

The Rams will face Purchase and Ramapo tomorrow, September 10th, for the second day of the Invitational.
