2013 Outdoor Track Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's and women's outdoor track teams finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships held at Rowan University. Senior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) led the men as he won the hammer throw with a toss of 49.66m. Jang's winning toss in the hammer throw earned him First Team All-Conference honors. For the women, senior Faustine Chukwuezi (Central Islip, N.Y.) earned a third place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.97m and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Farmingdale State had four ECAC qualifiers in five events this season. The teams opened the season at the St. Joe's Invitational and won four events. Jang and sophomore Andrew Bylicki (Deer Park, N.Y.) shared the hammer throw title, while senior Steven Renteria (West Babylon, N.Y.) won the high jump and freshman Jordan Kohlman (Wantagh, N.Y.) won the pole vault.

The women had two third place finishes at the meet - sophomore Susan Aguirre (Farmingdale, N.Y.) in the 110-meter hurdles and Chukwuezi in the triple jump. Chukwuezi also placed second in the triple jump at the Osprey Open and third at the NJ Invitational.

Junior Alix Lamarre (North Bellmore, N.Y.) won the long jump at two meets this season and placed third twice. He also took second place in the 100-meter once. Junior Daquan Grant (Copiague, N.Y.) placed second in the triple jump twice, while Renteria followed his season-opening win in the high jump with third and fourth place finishes throughout the year.

The women's 4x100m relay team of Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.), Kathleen Clermont (Uniondale, N.Y.), Katherine Hoskins (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Aguirre took third place and moved into sixth on the all-time list.
