NEW PALTZ, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2022-23 campaign Friday afternoon, with the Skyline Conference champion Rams (12-5) falling by a 5-4 count in an abbreviated neutral-site match versus SUNY Cortland.

FSC picked up victories in the top-two doubles flights by 8-6 scores to start the afternoon, with senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) topping Diana Kozenyatko and Logan Streety of the Red Dragons (7-3) in top-flight play. Sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and freshman MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned the No. 2 doubles point for the Rams by downing the Cortland pair of Vyda Van Denburg and Karlie Cubino.

Singles play was reduced to eight-game pro sets across the board due to weather conditions, and Hoffman toppled Kozenyatko at the No. 1 flight, 8-5, with Collings dispatching Streety by an 8-4 count at No. 2.

Both Farmingdale State and Cortland are in action Saturday morning at 10 a.m., when they'll compete in a bracket-style tournament along with host SUNY New Paltz.
