Women's Tennis Advances to Skyline Final with Shutout of #4 Yeshiva

#1 Farmingdale State - 5, #4 Yeshiva - 0


FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The top-seeded Farmingdale State women's tennis team earned a 5-0 shutout win in the Skyline Conference Championship Semifinals on Thursday afternoon. FSC has advanced to the Championship match and will host #2 St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday, October 29th at noon.

In doubles play, the Rams cruised through the first two matches as senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) won every game for the 8-0 decision in the #1 spot. Sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and freshman MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) quickly followed with an 8-1 win at second doubles to put Farmingdale State ahead, 2-0.

At third doubles, senior Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and freshman Mikayla DeMaria (West Babylon, N.Y.) defeated Sarah Leiderman and Sarah Grunseid, 8-5.

Leading 3-0, Gisler picked up a 6-0, 6-4 victory at #4 singles against Shira Adler minutes before Hoffman took the top-flight singles match, 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the 5-0 victory.

The four remaining singles matches were left unfinished with Farmingdale State leading each one.

The Rams will now play host to second-seeded St. Joe's-LI on Saturday at noon. The winner will be crowned Skyline Conference Champion and earn the automatic bid into the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship in May.
