FSC Improves to 3-0 in Skyline with Win at Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The FSC women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in Skyline Conference action with an 8-1 win at Purchase College on Sunday morning.

The Rams (7-4) swept through doubles play over the host Panthers (4-4, 1-1 Skyline), with the second pairing of sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and freshman MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earning an 8-3 win before the #1 duo of senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) picking up an 8-5 decision.

At third doubles, freshman Mikayla DeMaria (West Babylon, N.Y.) and senior Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) collected an 8-6 victory over Purchase freshmen Sierra Blanco and Novalie Nguyen.

Farmingdale State opened singles play with a DeMaria 6-1, 6-0 win in the sixth slot and a Collings 6-0, 7-5 victory in the second position to clinch the match.

Jones captured the third singles match, 6-1, 7-5, Gisler took the fourth spot, 6-2, 7-5, and freshman Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) won, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, in the #5 slot.

Hoffman was edged out in the top-flight match, 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 (8-10), but the Rams went on for the 8-1 Skyline victory.

FSC will next travel to Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline match on Tuesday, October 11th at 6:00 p.m.
