
#3 Sarah Lawrence - 5, #1 Farmingdale State - 1
Farmingdale, N.Y. - Top-seeded Farmingdale State hosted #3 Sarah Lawrence today in the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship and fell, 5-1.
In doubles, the #3 FSC (11-4) pairing of freshmen Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and Susana Pariona (Farmingdale, N.Y.) opened the match with an 8-1 win over SLC sophomores Bella Baine (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Chloe Cohen (Philadelphia, Penn.).
The Gryphons (10-3) tied the match with an 8-4 win at second doubles. Sophomore Sasha Conner and freshman Sophie Holmes earned the win over Farmingdale State sophomores Shari Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) and Katherine Del Valle (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).
At top-flight doubles, SLC freshman Simi Rao and junior Isabella Hardman won in a tie-breaker, 8-7 (7-4), over Rams' freshmen Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) to take a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.
Holmes (6-3, 6-4) and Biane (6-3, 6-0) took the fourth and fifth singles matches to put Sarah Lawrence ahead, 4-1.
Conner clinched the match with a come-from-behind, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, victory at third singles as the Gryphons went on for the 5-1 victory.
The first, second and sixth singles remained unfinished.
Sarah Lawrence has earned the conference's automatic bid into the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.
