Women's Tennis Improves to 2-0 in Skyline with Win Over Manhattanville

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over Skyline Conference opponent Manhattanville on Wednesday evening. The Rams improved to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline with the win.

Farmingdale State took a 1-0 advantage as sophomores Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and Shari Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) captured #2 doubles, 8-0.

The Valiants' (2-2, 1-1 Skyline) Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) answered with an 8-7 (8-6) tiebreaking win in first doubles to knot the match at 1-1.

FSC would win third doubles by default as they took a 2-1 advantage heading into singles action.

At first singles, freshman Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) defeated Charley, 6-3, 7-5, while Lettieri took the second slot, 7-5, 6-2, over Pretnar. 

Freshman Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles and Jackson captured #4 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

The Rams took the fifth and sixth singles by default as they went on for the 8-1 conference victory.

FSC next will play host to Suffolk County Community College for an exhibition match on Thursday, September 30th at 6:00 p.m.
