New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference announced its 10 Scholar-Athletes of the Year from this past spring season. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented in each sport to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.
Farmingdale State had two selections as sophomore Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's tennis and senior midfielder John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) earned the honor in men's lacrosse.
Lettieri helped the third-seeded Rams to the conference title as she was tabbed the Most Outstanding Player of the 2020-21 Skyline Conference Championship. Lettieri went 7-1 in singles and 6-3 in doubles competition in the spring.
McMahon, the 2019 Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, led the conference in ground balls and recorded 26 points on 20 goals and six assists. In the Skyline, he ranked first in ground balls, third for ground balls per game (6.44) and face-off percentage (.620), fourth in face-offs won, fifth for goals and points and eighth for goals per game (2.22).
