FSC Falls to Rhode Island College in First Round of NCAA's

Peachtree Corners, Ga. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team traveled to Peachtree Corners, Georgia for their NCAA First Round match against Rhode Island College and fell, 5-0. The Rams were eliminated from the tournament and the Anchorwomen advance to play host school Emory University in the Second Round.

At #1 doubles, the Farmingdale State pairing of freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) fell 8-2 to RIC's (10-0) Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) and Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.). In the second position, FSC freshman Stephanie Negrillo (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Shari Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) lost 8-0 to Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.). Rounding out the doubles competition in the third slot, freshman Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and sophomore Katherine Del Valle (Copiague, N.Y.) were defeated 8-1 by Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) and Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.). 

In singles, Jackson fell 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth position and Murrell dropped her match 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth slot. The remaining four matches were unfinished.

Farmingdale State finished the season with a 6-3 record.
