Rams Win Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship

2019 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Champions - Farmingdale State

#1 Farmingdale State - 5, #2 St. Joseph's-LI - 1


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The top-seeded Farmingdale State women's tennis team captured the Skyline Conference Championship this afternoon after defeating #2 St. Joseph's-LI, 5-1. FSC sophomore Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the championship.

After doubles competition, the Rams (16-1) held a 2-1 advantage. Senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) fell, 8-7 (7-2), to Amanda Post (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Nora Burnett (Amityville, N.Y.) in the first position. At second doubles, sophomore Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) and Ferguson tallied an 8-4 win, while sophomore Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and junior Cameren Jackson (Copiaguge, N.Y.) earned an 8-0 shutout victory in the third slot.

In singles play, the Rams only needed three points to clinch the title. Hoffman (6-0, 6-0), Tzanetos (6-0, 6-0) and Ferguson (6-1, 6-1) registered victories as the Rams won their first Skyline title since 2016. Farmingdale State closed the fall season on a school record 15-match winning streak.

Ferguson is 15-0 in singles and 16-1 in doubles competition this season.

With today's win, Farmingdale State receives the conference's automatic bid into the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships this May.
