Rams Defeat Western Connecticut in Non-Conference Match

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team defeated non-conference opponent Western Connecticut State on Friday afternoon, 8-1.

FSC (10-1) cruised through doubles play as senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) won 8-2 in the #1 position, while sophomore's Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) and Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) recorded an 8-0 shutout victory at second doubles. At #3 doubles, sophomore Shari Jackson (North Amityville, N.Y.) and freshman Danielle Aresta (Malverne, N.Y.) earned an 8-2 win as Farmingdale State took a 3-0 advantage into singles competition.

After falling at top singles, the Rams used wins from Hoffman (6-1, 6-2), Tzanetos (6-3, 4-6, 1-0) and Ferguson (6-1, 6-0) in the second through fourth spots before junior Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y) and senior Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories at fifth and sixth singles to cap off the 8-1 non-conference win.

The Rams are right back at it today, Saturday, October 5th, as they travel to Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline Conference match.
