FSC Deals Hunter College First Loss of Season

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team hosted previously unbeaten Hunter College in a non-conference match on Wednesday and earned a 7-2 victory. The Rams improved to 8-1 on the year, while the Hawks dropped to 4-1.

FSC claimed all three points in doubles competition. At first doubles, senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded an 8-3 win over freshman Zaara Afida (New York, N.Y.) and senior Elaine Zhang (Flushing, N.Y.). In the second position, sophomore's Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) and Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) defeated Hunter's Maryna Bohdanovska (Kherson, Ukraine) and Liliko Chung (New York, N.Y.) 8-2. Rounding out the doubles sweep, FSC's Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) notched an 8-0 victory in the third position.

In singles play, Reidy (7-6, 6-2), Hoffman (6-1, 6-1), Tzanetos (6-2, 7-5) and Ferguson (6-4, 6-1) all earned wins in the first through fourth slots, respectively.

The FSC women's tennis team next will travel to St. Joseph's-LI for a Skyline Conference match on Saturday, September 28th at noon.
