FSC Defeats Yeshiva in Skyline Opener

Bronx, N.Y. - The FSC women's tennis team traveled to play Yeshiva University on Wednesday evening in their Skyline Conference opener and earned an 8-1 win.

Farmingdale State (5-1, 1-0 Skyline) captured all three points in doubles play to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Senior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) won 8-1 in the first position, while the second pairing of sophomore's Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) and Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) won 8-5 at #2 doubles. In the third spot, sophomore's Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and Shari Jackson (North Amityville, N.Y.) picked up an 8-3 decision.

In singles play, Lettieri (6-2, 6-0), Hoffman (6-4, 6-1), Tzanetos (6-1, 6-2), Ferguson (6-2, 6-1) and senior Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) (6-0, 6-0) won in the second through sixth positions.

The Maccabees (4-2, 3-1 Skyline) earned their only point at #1 singles as senior Bailey Frohlich (Boca Raton, Fla.) edged out Reidy, 7-5, 7-5.

The Rams next travel to the College of Staten Island for a non-conference match on Saturday, September 21st at noon.
