FSC Women's Tennis Falls to St. Joe's-LI in Semifinals

#2 St. Joseph's-L.I. - 5, #3 Farmingdale State - 2


Patchogue, N.Y. - The third seeded Farmingdale State women's tennis team traveled to #2 St. Joseph's-Long Island last night for the Semifinals of the Skyline Conference Championship and fell, 5-2. FSC ends their season at 10-5 overall, while the Golden Eagles (8-3) have advanced to the Finals and will travel to top-seeded Purchase on Saturday.

After doubles action, the Rams held a 2-1 advantage. Farmingdale State junior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) defeated senior Victoria Panicola (Shirley, N.Y.) and freshman Taylor Hanscom (Patchogue, N.Y.), 9-8, at first doubles, while sophomore Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) and senior Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied an 8-4 victory in the third slot. At second doubles, SJC-LI juniors Amanda Post (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Nora Burnett (Amityville, N.Y.) earned an 8-1 win versus FSC freshmen Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) and Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.).

The Golden Eagles would bounce back to win four singles matches. Panicola tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles and Burnett put St. Joe's-L.I. ahead with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fourth slot. SJC-LI closed out the 5-2 win with a 6-2, 6-4 win at fifth singles and a 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 victory at sixth singles.
