Rams Fall in Regular Season Finale; Enter Playoffs as #3 Seed

Purchase, N.Y. - In their final match of the regular season, the Farmingdale State women's tennis team traveled to Skyline Conference opponent Purchase College and were defeated, 8-1. The Rams finished the regular season 10-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference. FSC will enter the playoffs as the #3 seed and travel to either #2 St. Joseph's-Long Island or Purchase for the semifinals on Wednesday, October 17th. SJC-LI and PC meet tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. with the winner earning the top seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs.

In doubles competition, the #1 FSC pairing of junior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) were defeated in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (7-1), while freshmen Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) and Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) lost, 8-4, in the second position. At third doubles, Rams sophomore Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) and senior Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) fell, 8-5, as the Panthers (9-1, 5-0 Skyline) led 3-0 heading into singles play.

After FSC lost via retirement at first singles, Lettieri (5-7, 4-6), Tzanetos (2-6, 4-6), Zollinger (0-6, 1-6) and Ferguson (5-7, 4-6) dropped the second through fifth positions.

Junior Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) won 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 in the sixth slot to earn Farmingdale State's solo point in the 8-1 loss.
