Rams Split Women's Tennis Doubleheader

Oneonta, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team traveled to SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Delhi for a pair of matches on Saturday and split after being shutout by the Red Dragons, before earning a 9-0 win against the Broncos. The Rams now stand at 6-2 on the season.

Against Oneonta (8-0), FSC's #1 doubles pairing of junior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) fell, 8-4, before Farmingdale State dropped the second and third doubles, 8-1 and 8-2, respectively.

In singles, the Red Dragons captured all six matches to round out the 9-0 sweep. In the first to sixth positions: Reidy (2-6, 3-6), Lettieri (5-7, 0-6), Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) (2-6, 1-6), Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) (2-6, 2-6), Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) (1-6, 5-7), and Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) (1-6, 1-6) were all defeated.

In their second match against Delhi (1-5), the first pairing of Reidy and Lettieri and third pairing of Ferguson and junior Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) won their doubles matches, 8-2, while Tzanetos and Zollinger earned an 8-3 victory at second doubles.

The Rams cruised through singles play as all six competitors earned straight set victories: Reidy (6-0, 6-3), Lettieri (6-0, 6-0), Tzanetos (6-0, 6-0), Zollinger (6-1, 6-0), Ferguson (6-0, 6-1) and Marino (6-0, 6-1).

Farmingdale State next hosts Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island on Wednesday, September 26th at 6:00 p.m.
