Rams Defeat WCSU; Earn Third Straight Win

Danbury, Conn. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team traveled to Danbury, Connecticut for a non-conference match at Western Connecticut State on Friday afternoon and earned a 6-3 victory. The Rams have now won three straight matches and improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Colonials dropped to 0-2.

Farmingdale State claimed 2-of-3 points in doubles competition as the freshmen pairing of Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) and Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) recorded an 8-5 victory in the second position. At #3 doubles, FSC's Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) also won by an 8-5 margin.

The Rams fell at #1 and #2 singles before capturing the remaining four matches. Tzanetos (6-2, 6-1), Zollinger (5-3, retired), Ferguson (6-0, 6-1) and Marino (6-0, 6-3) each notched wins in the third through sixth positions, respectively.

Farmingdale State next will host non-conference opponent Lehman College later today at 1:00 p.m.
