Farmingdale State - 5, Purchase College - 4
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team defeated Purchase College, 5-4, today in their final Skyline Conference match. The Rams improved to 6-7 overall, 3-3 in Skyline play, while the Panthers fell to 6-4, 3-3.
Purchase held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play with 8-4 wins at both the #2 and #3 matches, while sophomore Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and senior Olivia Stauffer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) picked up the 8-1 FSC victory at #1 doubles.
In singles play, Farmingdale State won 4-of-6 matches as Reidy and Stauffer won at #1 and #2 singles, respectively. At #3 singles, junior Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) took a 6-2, 6-4 win and sophomore Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) won 6-4, 6-2 at 5th singles.
The Rams will now travel to face non-conference opponent John Jay College on Thursday, October 12th at the USTA Center at 4:00 p.m.
