Stauffer's Super Tiebreaker Win Secures Rams Shutout

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team swept conference opponent Sarah Lawrence, 9-0, today. With the win, the Rams improved to 5-7, 2-3 in Skyline play, while the Gryphons dropped to 2-8, 1-4.

In doubles play, Farmingdale won their 1st, 2nd and 3rd doubles matches with wins of 8-3, 8-2 and 8-1, respectively.

In the singles competitions, both sophomore Julia Marino (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and freshman Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts. Junior Carolann La Monica (Islip, N.Y.) won at #4 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while sophomore Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) took a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 singles and junior Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) used a 6-1, 6-1 win to give the Rams an 8-0 lead.

In the #2 singles match, senior Olivia Stauffer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) defeated Jade Barnett-Irons in a super tiebreaker, 1-6, 6-1, 10-6 to secure the conference shutout.

Farmingdale State will now host Western Connecticut in a non-conference match on Monday, October 9th at 4:00 p.m.
