Farmingdale State - 8, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 1
Flushing, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team defeated St. Joe's-Brooklyn today, 8-1, in a Skyline match played at the USTA National Tennis Center. With the win, the Rams improved to 4-6, 1-2 in conference play, while the Bears dropped to 1-3, 0-3.
After doubles play, Farmingdale State led 3-0 with two 8-0 shutout wins at both 2nd and 3rd doubles and a Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and Olivia Stauffer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) 8-6 win in the top doubles spot.
In the singles competitions, the Rams went 5-1, as they posted 6-0, 6-0 shutout victories at 4th, 5th and 6th singles. Stauffer won 6-0, 6-2 at #2 singles and Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) finished 6-1, 6-1 in the #3 spot.
Farmingdale State will now travel to face Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday, October 3rd at 6:00 p.m.
