Baruch Downs Farmingdale State, 6-3, in Non-Conference Match

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team hosted non-conference opponent Baruch College this afternoon and fell, 6-3. With the loss the Rams are now 1-4 on the season, while the Bearcats stand at 1-1.

FSC won 2-of-3 doubles matches over Baruch. In the first position, sophomore Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) and junior Carolann La Monica (Islip, N.Y.) took an 8-4 decision, while freshmen Cameren Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) and Summer Baranello (Farmingdale, N.Y.) won at #3 doubles, 9-7.

Baruch defeated the Rams in 5-of-6 singles matches. Bearcats senior Isabel Arias (Woodbury, N.Y.) (6-2, 6-4), junior Grace Graham (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) (6-1, 6-0), senior Hayley Bester (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) (6-1, 6-0), sophomore Sharada Tangirala (Seattle, Wash.) (6-0, 6-2) and junior Elizabeth Mak (Londonderry, N.H.) (7-6, 6-4) each earned a point as Baruch earned the 6-3 victory.

Freshman Jazmin Gracida (Queens, N.Y.) took the #6 singles (6-4, 7-5) for FSC in her season debut.

Farmingdale State next hosts Lehman College on Thursday, September 21st at 4:30pm.
