Farmingdale State Falls to SUNY Geneseo in NCAA First Round

Middlebury, VT - In the First Round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament at Middlebury College, Farmingdale State fell, 5-0, this afternoon to SUNY Geneseo. The Rams were eliminated from the tournament and finished the season with a 15-5 record.

In doubles competition, SUNY Geneseo (13-8) claimed all three points. In the #1 slot, the Farmingdale State pairing of Priscilla Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Tatiana Rosamilia (Malverne, N.Y.) dropped their match, 8-2, to Lauren Salzano (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Anika Pornpitaksuk (Queens, N.Y.), while at #2 doubles, Michelle Fredericks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) fell, 8-1, to Maggie Hale (Perry, N.Y.) and Rachel Ollis (Suffern, N.Y.). In the third position, SUNY Geneseo's Nina Lurie (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and Vanessa Lam-Tran (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) defeated the FSC pair of Olivia Stauffer (Huntington, N.Y.) and Carolann La Monica (Islip, N.Y.), 8-0.

In singles, SUNY Geneseo recorded the necessary two points for victory in the third (6-1, 6-2) and sixth (6-1, 6-0) positions. The remaining four singles matches were unfinished.

The Knights advance to play host school Middlebury (14-4) tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
