Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Skyline Championship

#1 Farmingdale State - 5, #3 St. Joseph's-L.I. - 2


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The top-seeded Farmingdale State women's tennis team captured their fourth consecutive Skyline Conference Championship today with a 5-2 victory over third-seed St. Joseph's-L.I. (10-4). Senior Priscilla Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship, her third time in four seasons being named the MOP.

After doubles action, St. Joe's held a 2-1 advantage. Farmingdale State won the first set of the day with an 8-4 win at 1st doubles by Signore and junior Qurat-ul-ain Rai (Lehore, Pakistan), before the Golden Eagles posted an 8-4 victory at 2nd doubles and won the 3rd doubles by a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-2).

The Rams bounced back to win four singles matches. Signore tied the match 2-2 with her 6-0, 6-2 victory at 1st singles, while senior Tatiana Rosamilia (Malverne, N.Y.) put Farmingdale State ahead 3-2 with her 6-1, 6-1 win at 2nd singles. Freshman Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 4-2 lead as she won 6-2, 6-2 at 5th singles and senior Michelle Fredericks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) secured the Championship with her 6-2, 6-3 win at 4th singles.

With the win, the Rams (14-4) receive the conference's automatic bid into the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships this May.
