FSC Loses Close Match at NCAA's

Gwynedd Mercy - 5, Farmingdale State - 3


Brunswick, Maine - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team traveled to Bowdoin College for the First Round of the NCAA's and fell, 5-3, to Gwynedd Mercy on Thursday. The Griffins advance to play host-school Bowdoin in the Second Round.

The Rams (14-3) earned 1-of-3 points in doubles competition as juniors Tatiana Rosamilia (Malverne, N.Y.) and Michelle Fredericks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) tallied an 8-0 win over the pair of Amanda Goff (Vineland, N.J.) and Kristen Kriebel (Hatfield, Penn.) in the second position.

At #5 singles, Farmingdale State freshman Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) carded a 6-4, 6-3 victory and freshman Savannah Haworth (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) won 6-2, 6-0 in the #6 slot.

Gwynedd Mercy (18-1) won first, second and third singles to record the 5-3 victory. The other singles match featuring Qurat-ul-ain Rai (Lahore, Pakistan) and Kriebel was unfinished.
