Women's Tennis Wins First Match of Spring Season

Farmingdale State - 6, Baruch - 3


Farmingdale, N.Y. - In the first match since winning their third straight Skyline Championship in October, the Farmingdale State women's tennis team defeated Baruch, 6-3, on Tuesday evening. The Rams (14-2) dealt Baruch (14-1) their first loss of the year.

At #2 doubles, FSC juniors Michelle Fredericks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Tatiana Rosamilia (Malverne, N.Y.) recorded an 8-4 victory over the pair of Hayley Bester (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) and Jessica Zukhovich (Staten Island, N.Y.).

In singles, Fredericks carded an 8-1 win in the #3 slot, while sophomore Qurat-ul-ain Rai (Lahore, Pakistan) posted an 8-4 victory in the fourth position. At fifth singles, freshman Celine Zollinger (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied an 8-6 win for the Rams.

Farmingdale State next will square off against Oneonta on Sunday, May 1st at 1:00 p.m.
